Erupting from a sea of blue
the little light was bright
and featherlight
erupting from a sea of blue
it travelled to the stars
but on its endless journey
like a dying flame
it slowly disappeared
into the deep dark blackness
of space
and the stars smiled
and continued to twinkle

Infectious
he had a golden chest with smiles
it had a golden lock
and all the warmth
and radiance of smiles
was safely locked inside
from time to time
on special days
he’d take his golden key
he’d open up his golden chest and
carefully
select a smile to wear
she had a golden smile
its radiance and warmth
made all and sundry
happy
all the time
and when he saw her smile
a smile she didn’t wear
a smile she lived
he briefly cried
but then
he threw away his golden key
and he too smiled

          -o-

Siesta
it is cool in the wood
the leaves on the trees
dance
in the breeze
the canopy
filters the sun
to a gentle glow
and little flecks of light
dance on the grass
the eternal music
of the wood
is bright with
subtle summer sounds
it has sent them off to sleep
and their breathing
follows its rhythm
until she wakes
she lifts herself on her elbow
to watch him sleep
she picks a long blade of grass
and carefully
with the tip of the grass
she tickles
the tip of his nose
with a faint quiver
of his nostrils
he opens his eyes
he closes his eyes
and smiles

          -o-

He wandered off
without a single move
the hustle and bustle around him
faded away
didn’t even leave
a memory
as if on a levitating cloud
he drifted
without a destination
and the world around him
smiled
until it was
just light and music

         -o-

Supine and afloat
she watched the canopy of trees
drift by
as the stream carried her
carried her
the stream was made of
little waves
harmless and
with a soothing timeless music
a narrow luminous gap
in the canopy of trees
meandered with the stream
sparkling the little waves
with light
occasionally the little waves
splashed little drops of water
on her eyes
and the trees became a blur
a beautiful blur
with ever changing colours
and she waited
a good long while
before she blinked
and she smiled
and closed her eyes
as the stream carried her
carried her
          -o-
Summer shower
the field stretched far
to the horizon
perfectly flat and
lush with long green grass
she’d found a spot
right in the centre
to lie in the sun
hands behind her head
a sprig of sorrel in her mouth
the sun played hide and seek
behind some clouds
now engulfing her in warmth
then letting clouds
cool her down
until a large dark cloud moved in
and the heavens opened
and within seconds she got soaked
through and through
she lay in long wet grass
perfectly still
eyes closed and smiling

         -o-

He watched her dance
dance with her teddy bear
a giddy and dazzling dance
to glorious glittering music
that only she could hear
and in their fantastical dance
she made her teddy fly
round and round
in a blur
in an orbit round her face
an orbit round the sun
and while she shrieked with laughter
his mind melted into memories
and he smiled
